REVISING FOR PROFESSIONAL TONE AND CLARITY
I chose this homework blog because it represents an important moment in my growth as a writer during this course. While working on the Directive Memo assignment, I learned that professional writing is not about using difficult words or sounding overly formal. Instead, it is about communicating ideas clearly, directly, and respectfully for a specific audience.
In this blog, I focused on revising sentences that sounded too wordy, repetitive, or unclear. I practiced making my writing more concise and organized so readers could easily understand the message. For example, I revised sections of my memo to make the meeting procedures more specific and easier to follow. I also worked on improving the tone so the memo sounded firm but still respectful toward the audience.
This homework helped me understand the importance of revision and editing in technical writing. It showed me how small changes in wording, sentence structure, and organization can make writing more effective and professional. I also became more aware of how audience expectations affect the way technical documents should be written.
